The
three CLASSIC™ designs are basically the same boat with the
stations spaced differently to accommodate the length. They all
use the same station shapes.
There is one other difference on the 14' model; the longitudinals
have been increased from the 3/8" size to 7/16". This
accounts for the rather large increase in weight when you go from
the 12' to the 14'.
While
the lines are not the same, there is a strong resemblance to the
NEW YORK style WHITEHALL, built in the mid 1800's. These are documented
in Howard Chapelle's book "American Small Sailing Craft."
The
main difference is the reduced deadrise on the bottom which was
done to compensate for the ultra light weight of the Geodesic AiroLITE®
boats.
